New Year, New Newsletter

& writing prompt #101

Happy 2024, Creative Juicers 🥳

Turns out a month-long hibernation was a great call because covid knocked me out for a week and a half. In fact, I rang in the New Year quarantined and hopped up on cough syrup. Rager!

In between huffing the eucalyptus diffuser and staring at the ceiling, I had plenty of time to contemplate how I’d like to tweak this newsletter for 2024:

➤➤ Going forward, we’ll be experimenting with a weekly newsletter format. You’ll now receive emails on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Monday
• Receive your weekly writing prompt + Writer Life Wednesday question
• Submit your piece by Sunday night (a whole week to work on your piece!)
• If you submit something, see what everyone else wrote on the following Monday

Wednesday
• Receive Writer Life Wednesday email with crowdsourced advice to a question of writerly concern
• Share your writerly advice by Tuesday night
• Send in your questions anytime for a future Writer Life Wednesday

Let’s try this out for a while and see how this feels. Email me feedback anytime.

Weekly writing prompt: No turning back

Write a piece that includes a moment where everything changes and nothing will be the same again. Alternatively, reflect on such a moment in your own life.

Reply to this email and submit your writing. Share by Sunday evening and see what everyone else wrote for the same prompt.

Share your writerly advice

This week’s question: I’m writing a novel on a Google Doc in Google Drive. there has to be something better, less bulky. Right? What is it?

Have suggestions? Reply to this email to share your advice by Tuesday evening.

Have a question you want to ask the group? Email it to me!

Writing inspo of the week

A book is the only place in which you can examine a fragile thought without breaking it.
