Daily Writing Prompt #55
In the Mood for Love
Today, a creative crossover.
The below prompt takes inspo from Wong Kar-waiâs In The Mood for Loveâan absolute gem of Hong Kong cinema. Itâs a slow-burning master class in aesthetics, yearning, and all thatâs left unsaid.
I mean⊠Canât get more iconic than this
Prompt: Take any of the below quotes from In The Mood for Love and use it as inspiration for a scene, reflection, microfiction, poem, or perhaps moody letter to your ex-lover.

- "In the old days, if someone had a secret they didn't want to share, you know what they did? ... They went up a mountain, found a tree, carved a hole in it, and whispered the secret into the hole. Then they covered it with mud and left the secret there forever."
- Su Li-zhen Chan : Why did you call me at the office today?
- Chow Mo-wan : I had nothing to do. I wanted to hear your voice.
- "She dresses like that to go out for noodles?"
- "You notice things if you pay attention.â
- Chow Mo-wan : I sometimes wonder what I'd be if I hadn't married. Have you ever thought of that?
- Su Li-zhen Chan : Maybe happier.
